Who Are A.P.S.S. ?

Alcohol Peer Support Services develop

and maintain peer support services,

including group sessions and our unique 1-2-1 mentoring to help those seeking

and aiming for an alcohol free lifestyle

after being dependent to alcohol.

Our services are also developed to

support individuals in recovery to

overcome the social isolation which many people feel when they stop drinking.

Our service is open to everyone who

feel they could benefit from peer

support in their recovery or during treatment and following the path

towards abstinence.

Our groups and services are led by
peer mentors / facilitators,who have
a "Min" of 18 months sobriety to many
years in recovery and have undergone
peer mentor and facilitator training
.

We believe that "controlled drinking"
after becoming alcohol dependent
and
ones health and wellbeing has been
affected, is a negative goal, and
we
would not be providing clients with
efficient support if we were not
helping them maintain an alcohol free healthly lifestyle where they can look forward
to a future where alcohol
isn't an issue...
because life is too good without.

Peer Support Groups

Before attending any peer support groups

with APSS, we ask all new clients to attend an informal pre-assessment with the service manager or peer trained group facilitator.

At group sessions, clients and facilitators discuss personal issues relevant to the continued health and wellbeing of all, without the need for alcohol .

We should underline here that we run abstinence based peer support groups

While we accept and support clients experiencing occasional lapses / relapse, we do not subscribe to the view that a return to 'controlled' or 'social' drinking is possible (for us).

Some of our clients have tried and failed to return to drinking alcohol socially or on an occasional basis

We have all reached that point in our life where we want to put 'booze' behind us and get on with the rest of our lives, and that's where Alcohol Peer Support Services provide that extra support with peers who have been there and understand how you are feeling, no matter if you are a few days in recovery or many years away from your last drink of alcohol and need that extra support from others who are in recovery.
